In addition, graduate degree programs are available through the Department of Advanced Practice Nursing. Through innovative teaching, experiential learning, research and community and public services, the Department of Baccalaureate Nursing prepares competent, caring nursing professionals.

Indiana State University, partnering with Ivy Tech Community College, offers a distance learning opportunity for licensed practical/vocational nurses to complete a Bachelor of Science in nursing (LPN to BSN). The program is open to practicing, LVNs and LPNs with current licenses. Students are able to transfer all applicable credits to Indiana State University in order to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Some courses may be completed through challenge exams and course equivalency tests. Clinical experience and testing is arranged in the student’s community. Up to 94 credit hours of transfer credit will be accepted.

Students must complete at least 30 credit hours through Indiana State University to earn the bachelor degree. The program consists of three phases: Foundational Studies, Nursing Prerequisites and Baccalaureate-Level Nursing Courses. All nursing courses are conveniently available online. Foundational Studies requirements can be fulfilled by transfer credit or through the University’s Distance Learning Program.
